A Three Hills man has been arrested following an incident with police earlier this week.

RCMP say it was Aug. 23 that Drumheller RCMP members were called to a rural property north of Carbon where a male suspect had allegedly cut the locks on a gate and gained access to the property.

Police say that the owners of the property located the suspect and in an attempt to escape, he attempted to run them off the road with his stolen truck. The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Tyree Ewing of Three Hills.

According to police, it was about 2 a.m. when RCMP located a suspect and attempted a traffic stop.

The suspect fled at a high rate of speed, and during the night is believed to have stolen three more vehicles. In another attempt to apprehend, the suspect rammed a police vehicle. A Police Dog Services member who was driving the police vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Later, the suspect is said to have driven at a member of Three Hills detachment before fleeing toward Stettler.

Police say they continued to track the suspect into the early morning hours with assistance from the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction (CRU) Team, K Division Emergency Response Team (ERT), Police Dog Service (PDS) and K Division Air Services.

On Aug. 24, at approximately 12 p.m., a full day-plus later, officers entered a residence and the man was taken into custody.
