Jul 29, 2022 | 2:58 PM

Over the land and under the sea, come and explore sweet and salty worlds this Heritage Day at the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG). Come have a ‘Whale of a good time’ watching improvised storytelling with Calf Skit and a hive of art activities around an inflatable Whale. Drop-in Monday, August 1, 2022 from 1-4 p.m. Admission to this event is free. The MAG is located at 4525 47A Avenue, Red Deer.

“Art has a message or a story, and our current exhibits are inspiring examples of why we need to take care of our environment. We hope families leave our event inspired to recycle and reconsider pesticide use. We have had fun planning our event around the theme of bees and oceans. We are excited to be hosting Calf Skit performances and we thank FCSS for the use of their large inflatable whale,” says Lynn LeCorre, Education Coordinator.

Bring your (clean/dry) recyclables to use in our ‘Weaving for Whales’ art installation and receive an entry into a draw to win a MAG membership + MAG BAG Art kit. Accepted Recyclables: water bottles, plastic cutlery, plastic grocery bags, plastic drink rings (6-pack), drinking straws, plastic drink lids (coffee cups etc.). Explore our Art Exhibits: In Adoration of the Precarious Bee by Dawn Detarando and Tracing Tides: A Topographical Investigation by Lyndal Osborne. In the event of inclement weather, the event will move indoors with a mini whale for the Improvised Storytelling performances.
