Local competitors didn’t top the main leaderboard at the Alberta Senior Ladies Championship, but they still fared well and had fun.

The tournament, taking place at Priddis Greens near Priddis, southwest of Calgary, featured several central Alberta golfers, including Lynn Kuehn from Lacombe Golf and Country Club, Cathy Spicer from Olds Golf Club, Caroline Tester from Innisfail Golf Club, and Mona Knudslien from Red Deer Golf & Country Club.

In stroke play, Kuehn (79-77-82) finished in 12th at +22.

Spicer (81-83-85) finished T20 at +33, and Tester (110-103-104) completed the tournament at +101.

The winner was Brenda Heyink of Camrose Golf Course who saved her best round, a 74, for the final day, taking over the lead from 1992 Olympic skiing champion Kerrin Lee-Gartner.

Kuehn’s +22 also had her 4th in the Super Senior division.

In the Net Stableford format, Red Deer’s Knudslien topped all but one of her competitors with 96 points. Joanne Ladner of Strathmore tied Knudslien for the format’s victory.

The top local in the Flights was Spicer, whose +33 placed her second in Flight 3.
