Red Deer rental rates climb higher

Rental rates are on the rise in Red Deer.

According to the latest National Rent Report from Rentals.ca, the average rent for a one bedroom unit in Red Deer in May was $988 per month, up 3.7 per cent from April and 12.1 per cent from May 2021.

That puts Red Deer at number 34 on the list of 35 Canadian cities included in the monthly report.

Meanwhile, the average rent for a two-bedroom unit in May came in at $1,147 per month, up 5.5 per cent from April and 9.0 per cent from the same month last year.

Elsewhere in Alberta, Calgary placed 24th on the list with an average rent of $1,471 per month for a one-bedroom unit and $1,794 per month for a two-bedroom place.

Fort McMurray placed 29th on the list with an average rent of $1,073 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May, and $1,316 per month for a two-bedroom.

Edmonton placed 31st on the list with an average rent of $1,043 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May and $1,309 per month for a two-bedroom.

Lethbridge was right behind, placing 32nd on the list, with an average rent of $1,043 per month in May, and $1,210 per month for a two-bedroom unit.

Vancouver topped the list as always, with an average rent of $2,377 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May, and $3,495 per month for a two-bedroom place.

Saskatoon was at the bottom of the list, with an average rent of $975 per month for a one-bedroom unit in May, and $1,145 per month for a two-bedroom unit last month.
