Period Promise Pop-Up Collection Site
Soroptimist International of Central Alberta are holding a pop-up event outside London Drugs in Red Deer on Saturday June 18 from 12 to 4 p.m., to collect financial and product donations for the United Way’s Period Promise campaign.
London Drugs’ “Wellness. Period.” campaign is back this year and if you purchase qualifying menstrual products, a donation will be made to combat period poverty across Canada.
Pick up an extra box of tampons or pads, or both, and donate them at our booth set up outside the store. Many people in our communities can’t afford menstrual products and have to miss work, school and community events. It is time to stop the stigma, shame and silence and bring back dignity to people who menstruate.
Soroptimist International and United Way of Central Alberta brought the Period Promise Pilot Project to Red Deer in 2021. Four schools in the Red Deer Public School District are outfitted with dispensers and free menstrual products in every bathroom.
