If you like the show “Storage Wars”, you may want to sign up for a local charity event this weekend where you can experience it in real life.

For the first time, Royal LePage Network Realty will be hosting a “$torage Wars Charity” on Saturday, June 11 at Bluebird Self Storage in Gasoline Alley starting at 1 p.m.

Storage lockers will be filled with new donated items and will be quickly shown to attendees before being auctioned off.

Some lockers will also be themed to auction unique experiences including:

  • The Patio Party – valued over $3000
  • The Gambler – valued over $1500
  • Girls Just Want To Have Fun – valued over $2000
  • Golf Couples Paradise – valued over $2000
  • The Great Outdoors – valued over $1000
  • Royal LePage Network Mystery Locker – valued over $5000

The event will be in support of two local charities this year. Keri Jensen, Realtor with Royal LePage and committee member for the event, says the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter is the first charity as the topic is of national importance for the company. Secondly, donations will also be going to the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre to help the organization in obtaining a new therapy dog which, they say, costs around $50,000.

“Both charities are in great need of our help. We’ve come off of a few really bad years and hard years for them so they both need a lot of help right now and a lot of funding,” she said.

The event is truly a full-day affair. For a select few, a VIP Prestige Party Bus will pick them up before the event for a pub crawl where they will travel to three locations for food, drinks and live entertainment. At the main event, alongside a live and silent auction, attendees can enjoy food trucks, wine and beer gardens, a 50/50 draw, entertainment and more. At the end, everyone is invited to an after party.

This year will mark the company’s 10th annual charity event. In nine years, Royal LePage says they have raised over $500,000 with all proceeds going directly to local shelters.

“Honestly, this is why I do my job; so that we can create more opportunities and give back to the community,” she said. “We want to support locally.”

Attendees can register for $10 at www.rlpcharity.ca.
