Blackfalds Social Needs Assessment moves forward

May 10, 2022 | 4:58 PM

The Town of Blackfalds has announced it is taking steps to create a new Social Needs Assessment for the community.

During the April 26 regular meeting of council, Moorhouse & Associates, and Objective Research and Evaluation were chosen to undertake a Blackfalds Social Needs Assessment and Master Plan.

This plan is expected to identify priorities, guide decision-making, resource allocation, and collaborative action to enhance the social well-being and quality of life of Blackfalds residents.

Throughout the coming months, the consultants, working closely with Blackfalds FCSS staff and municipal administration, will engage with stakeholders, survey the public, and facilitate focus groups and open houses to gather resident input regarding the community’s social needs.

Blackfalds FCSS Manager Sue Bornn shared that she is looking forward to developing this Social Needs Assessment and Master Plan.

“As our community moves beyond the collective pandemic experience, this plan will support the work of Blackfalds FCSS to ensure the needs of the community are being met. We look forward to finding out how best we can ensure our residents are healthy, connected, and feel safe in Blackfalds.”

The Social Needs Assessment and Master Plan process will see the community engagement opportunities taking place in June, July, and August, with a completed document for council’s approval in October.
