National Volunteer Week a chance for thanks

Apr 19, 2022 | 10:05 AM

Twelve central Alberta non-profit organizations are coming together to show their appreciation to the countless residents who volunteer their time.

With National Volunteer week fast approaching (April 24-30, 2022), 12 non-profits will be sharing the love, saying thank you to thousands of central Albertans who volunteer. The organizations will be posting that week on social media, in hopes those who see it will share and spread the love and possibly spark the interest for more volunteers to come forward.

The group includes: Family Services of Central Alberta, Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, Red Deer Child Care, Cosmos, Central Alberta FASD Network, Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre, Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre, Youth HQ, CARE for Newcomers, Red Deer and District Community Foundation, Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery, and Tourism Red Deer. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy and impact of volunteerism in our communities and across our country.

Every April, Volunteer Canada leads the National Volunteer Week (NVW) celebration. It is the perfect time to recognize volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteerism in our communities. This year, National Volunteer Week is April 24-30, 2022.

This year’s theme is: “Volunteering Is Empathy In Action.” #NVW2022 #EmpathyInAction #VolunteersBringHeart

Judy Scott of Family Services Central Alberta adds, “In doing this, we are hoping to share our love and appreciation for those who give their time to our organizations in central Alberta. Some of our organizations couldn’t do it without them. Their work in our community makes it a much better and stronger one. To all of those who volunteer, Thank you.”
