Mar 4, 2022 | 4:46 PM

Charges are anticipated following the search of a local residence where police seized numerous electronic devices and identity documents of other people.

On Mar. 3, Red Deer RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) executed a search warrant at a residence on Howlett Avenue in Red Deer’s Highland Green neighbourhood.

Mounties say an investigation began on Feb. 22, after the report of an attempted fraudulent online purchase and misuse of a credit card. RCMP say the owner of the credit card used in the transaction was alerted by the purchase and reported it to police.

Through investigation, CRT was able to determine the location of the attempted fraudulent purchase to be at a property on Howlett Avenue.

Mounties say a search warrant was obtained for the property and given the extensive history with the residents of the property, Red Deer RCMP requested the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) to execute the search warrant. There were no occupants present at the time of the search.

Numerous electronic devices and numerous identity documents of other people were located at the property, according to police. RCMP continue to process and analyze the seized items.

No arrests were made at the time of the search.
