Rebels slash Blades in 5-3 win
The Red Deer Rebels did not let their shut out loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings last week keep them down this week, as they slashed through the Saskatoon Blades in a 5-3 win at the Peavey Mart Centrium Friday night.
Still fighting for first place in the WHL’s Central Division, Friday’s match followed a game postponed against the Oil Kings on Tuesday. The Rebels last played the Blades on Feb. 5, and came out with a 6-1 victory.
In an intense first period, the Rebels broke the ice with Arshdeep Bains scoring at 8:44 on goaltender Nolan Maier. His 24th goal this season was assisted by Ben King and Jackson van de Leest.
Not long afterwards, the Blades’ Brandon Lisowsky scored his 25th goal of the season on Rebels netminder Connor Ungar. The goal came at 11:05 with Trevor Wong assisting to tie the game 1-1.
