Leduc RCMP response to serious motor vehicle collision

Two separate vehicle collisions occurred in a span of one hour Monday morning in Leduc County.

Traffic flow has since resumed in the area of Highway 814 and Township Road 502.

On Jan. 31, at 9:36 a.m., Leduc RCMP were dispatched to a serious two vehicle collision in the area.

Preliminary investigation revealed a pickup truck was travelling north bound and collided head on with a south bound SUV one-mile south of the intersection of Highway 814 and Township Road 502 in Leduc County.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 75-year-old male from Beaumont, Alta. was assessed for injuries and released on scene.

The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old female from Edmonton, Alta. was transported to local area hospital with minor injuries.

A second collision occurred, before 10:33 a.m., between responding emergency vehicles and three occupants in the ambulance were transported to a local area hospital as a precaution.

Traffic remained for several hours until around 3:43 p.m.

Leduc RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate the cause of the collisions, however road conditions are believed to be a contributing factor. The RCMP Traffic Analyst also assisted in the investigation.
