By-Election Day in Blackfalds

Municipal By-Election Day is underway in the town of Blackfalds today.

Advance voting took place last week at the Civic Cultural Centre, with election day voting taking place in Council Chambers from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm.

Face masks are mandatory, and staff are asking that everyone practice social distancing and clean hygiene while voting.

There are three candidates on the ballot vying for one council position. They include Edna Coulter, Ray Olfert, and Will Taylor.

Nominations closed on Dec. 13, 2021 and were signed by a minimum of five eligible voters and included the signed statement of the candidate.

Town officials note the local Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officers are appointed by Town council. These roles are responsible for all matters pertaining to the local organization and operation of the 2021 Local Authorities Election, and for enforcement of provisions of the Local Authorities Election Act.

The Official Nomination Day Results will be sent out via media release.
