Red Deer with 110 active cases of COVID-19

There are 110 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer, down 10 from Monday.

That brings the total number of coronavirus cases identified in the city since the start of the pandemic to 9,398 – up five from Monday, while recoveries increased by 15 to 9,205.

Red Deer’s active case rate per 100k is currently 103.4, which compares to a rate of 88.7 in Calgary, 58.3 in Edmonton, and 116.2 in Lethbridge.

Total deaths in Red Deer related to the COVID-19 virus remains at 83, with the last two reported over the weekend.

CENTRAL ZONE

There are 591 active cases of COVID-19 in Central Zone, down 73 from Monday.

There are 87 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Central Zone, down one from Monday, with six of those patients receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, also down one from the day before.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Central Zone is 399, up one from Monday.

Elsewhere throughout the province, there are 1,761 active cases of COVID-19 in the Calgary Zone, 1,107 in the Edmonton Zone, 753 in the North Zone, 330 in the South Zone, and three additional cases in unconfirmed locations.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Alberta is reporting 238 new cases of COVID-19 today, bringing the total number of active cases across the province now to 4,545. That’s down 305 from Monday.

With 5,350 tests conducted over the past day, the province’s test positivity rate is roughly 4.4 per cent.

Of the province’s active cases, 2,494 are variants of concern, making up 54.8 per cent of all active cases.

There are 434 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Alberta, up two from Monday, with 81 of those patients in ICU, up four from Monday.

There have been six new deaths reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours, bringing the virus’ death toll in our province to 3,248.

VACCINATIONS

In Alberta, 6,890,791 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered as of the end of Nov. 29. That’s up 18,343 over the past day.

Of the 12+ population, 88.8 per cent has received at least one dose (76.1% total population), while 83.9 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (71.4% total population).

373,482 Albertans have received a third dose, up 4,661 from Friday.

In Red Deer, 74,714 (70.2% of total population) people have received at least one dose, up 149 over the past day.

Meanwhile, 70,644 (66.3% of total population) residents are fully vaccinated, up 70.
