Oct 15, 2021 | 9:50 PM

In their first of eight meetings with the Calgary Hitmen this season, the Red Deer Rebels laughed their way to an 8-1 road victory Friday night.

That ahead of a nationally televised rematch in Red Deer tomorrow.

The Rebels got on the board quickly Friday, Arshdeep Bains (2nd) scoring at the 1:31 mark. Kai Uchacz and Matteo Fabrizi provided the helpers.

With a man advantage, however, Calgary’s Sean Tschigerl (2nd) tied things up at 1-1 at the 9:50 mark.

Red Deer didn’t lament, as Bains (3rd), with assists to Ben King and Hunter Mayo, restored the lead at 16:30. Uchacz (2nd) scored on the powerplay at 18:06, with helpers to Christoffer Sedoff and Bains.

After 20 minutes, the away side led 3-1.

Red Deer poured it on in the middle frame, scoring four more times to take a commanding 7-1 lead after two.

First, Blake Stevenson (2nd) — Fabrizi and Mayo with the assists — scored at 3:22, then Bains (4th) tallied again on the powerplay for the hat trick at 6:29. Stevenson and Sedoff once again got on the scoresheet with assists.

Liam Keeler (1st) scored at 13:24 — Ethan Rowland and Jace Weir with assists, then Sedoff (1st) tallied at 17:10 — Jayden Grubbe and Stevenson with helpers.

In the third, Red Deer added a little salt to the wound, Keeler (2nd) scored 59 seconds in, and that would be it for the onslaught. Grubbe earned his second assist on the night.
