Energy-efficient lights installed at Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex

The Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex in Lacombe will realize 50 per cent energy savings thanks to new LED lights.

The City had the energy-efficient lights purchased and installed recently to reduce operating costs and the building’s environmental footprint. They replace previously installed fluorescents.

“The Echo Energy and Echo Internet Arenas are a premier destination in our community,” Mayor Grant Creasey says. “Council is pleased to see the City will be able to sustain that reputation, while at the same time providing an enhanced viewing experience and reducing costs.”

The City applied for and received a rebate back on the project through the provincial Recreation Conservation Program.

“We’re excited to be using this technology,” says Manager of Parks and Facilities Calvin Bennefield. “By implementing this new LED lighting system, we’ll be reducing the energy we use at the arenas while providing a better experience to our many user groups.”
