U15 AAA Ernco Braves add to season win total over the weekend

The Red Deer U15 AAA Ernco Braves finished off another weekend undefeated – improving their record to 29-5-0 with another two wins over the weekend.

The Braves met up against The Calgary Bucks Yellow U15 AAA squad for the first time this year, taking the two-game series on Saturday 9-3 and 8-7.

In Game 1, the Braves opened the scoring in the first inning. Noah Nakonechny drove in two when he singled.

The Braves then notched four runs in the second inning. The rally was led by singles from Nathan Flewelling and Brett Belich, and by Jake Brooks.

Addison Giesbrecht was the winning pitcher for the Braves. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six. Avery Coumont and Belich entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close-out the game in relief.

The Braves collected 10 hits, with Belich and Coumont both managing multiple hits. Belich went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. The Bucks Yellow also racked up ten hits in the game.

In Game 2, the Braves stole the lead late in the game in an 8-7 victory over the Bucks.

The game was tied at seven, with the Braves batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored one run for the boys from Red Deer.

Despite falling down by seven runs in the fourth inning, the Bucks tried to fight back. Calgary scored seven runs in the failed comeback.

The Braves opened the scoring in the second inning when Luke Schmitt singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. The Bucks, however, evened things up at seven in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Braves went on to score five runs in the fourth inning. Offense in the inning was led by Brett Hall, Avery Coumont, Jake Brooks, and Nathan Flewelling, who all drove in runs.

Wyatt McKeen was the winning pitcher for the Braves. The lefty allowed two hits and one run over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking zero. Hall and Brooks entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close-out the game in relief. Brooks recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Red Deer.

Noah Nakonechny started the game for the Braves. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five and walking one.

Hall, Coumont, Schmitt, Nakonechny, and Brooks each collected one hit to lead the Braves. The team was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Flewelling had the most chances in the field with 10.
