COVID numbers continue rise across Alberta, 0 deaths in 5 days

There are 33 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer, up two.

Red Deer added two new cases in the last 24 hours, and stands at 5,828 total for the entire pandemic.

Recoveries are even over the last day, and remain at 5,752, while Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 43, with the last fatality reported July 6.

The Central Zone as a whole has 139 active cases, up six from Tuesday. There are seven hospitalizations, up one, and one person is in the ICU at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday. There have been 172 deaths in the zone linked to COVID-19, with none reported in the last day.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Across the province, Alberta reported 206 new cases on Wednesday out of 5,429 test results for a seven-day positivity rate of 3.22 per cent.

Active cases are up 106 to 2,282. Of those, 1,725 are variants of concern, or about 76 per cent of all active cases.

There are 97 Albertans in hospital because of COVID-19, up seven from Tuesday, and 23 in intensive care, the same as yesterday.

The province’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is now 2,328, with none reported since last Friday.

Of Alberta’s 12+ population, 76.1 per cent has received at least one dose (64.7% total population), while 66.0 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (56.1% total population). A total of 5,344,785 doses have been administered, up 12,962 in the last day.

In Red Deer, 61,372 (66.9% eligible/57.7% total) people have received at least one dose. Meanwhile, 53,706 (58.6%/50.5%) are fully vaccinated.
