Local and provincial COVID numbers steady as pandemic drags on

Red Deer now sits at 18 active cases of COVID-19, down one from Thursday.

The city’s total number of recorded cases is down one to 5,787, meaning there was a data correction. Recoveries stayed level at 5,726.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 43, with the last one reported July 6.

The Central Zone as a whole has 38 active cases as of Friday, down six. There are nine hospitalizations, up three, including one person receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday. The Central Zone has had 170 deaths linked to COVID-19, with none reported today.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Across Alberta, another 41 cases of COVID-19 were announced Friday out of 6,365 tests. That makes for a seven-day positivity rate of ~0.68 per cent, up 0.01.

Active cases across the province are up one to 579, marking the second straight day the provincial active caseload has increased. On Wednesday it was 569.

There are 110 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, up three, including 28 in intensive care, down three.

Two new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day, making the provincial total now 2,314.

On the vaccination front, 60.192 (65.7%of eligible and 56.6% of all) Red Deerians have now received at least one dose, up 124. Of those, 48,565 (53.0%/45.6%) are fully immunized with two doses, up 638.

Comparatively, across the province, 4,980,821 vaccine doses have been delivered as of July 15, with 74.5 (+0.1) per cent of eligible Albertans (63.4% of entire population) having received at least one dose. Meantime, 57.9 (+0.8) per cent of those eligible are now fully immunized, equal to 49.2 per cent of the entire population.
