18 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer

Red Deer now has just 18 active cases of COVID-19.

That’s down six from last Thursday’s reported total of 24 and is the city’s lowest total since there were 10 active cases reported back on October 9.

Recoveries are listed at 5,712 as Red Deer added just four new COVID cases over the last three days for a total of 5,772.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 42, with the last one reported June 29.

The entire Central Zone has 100 active cases as of Monday, down 13, with 19 hospitalizations, up one, including two receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as last Friday. The zone has had 170 deaths linked to the virus, with none reported today.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Over the past three days, AHS confirmed a combined 139 cases with 42 on Friday, 53 on Saturday, and 44 on Sunday. There are 831 active cases, down from 895.

An average of 4,124 tests were conducted each day over the past three days.

Since Friday’s update, there have been two more deaths added to the provincial COVID-19 death toll, for a total of 2,303.

Provincially, 136 patients are currently hospitalized, down eight, including 32 who have been admitted to intensive care, down one.

4,578,868 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of July 4. 73.4 per cent of the 12+ population has received at least one dose (62.4% total population) and 48.4 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (41.1% total population).

In Red Deer, 59,171 (64.5%) eligible people have received at least one dose, up 292 over the last three days. Meanwhile, 42,023 (45.8%) are fully vaccinated, up 2,568.
