Zoning change on the table for Red Deer Polytechnic land
New zoning is being proposed for Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) to better provide for the institution’s ability to develop and grow.
On July 5, Red Deer city council will deliberate the zoning, which would be called Post-Secondary Institution (PSI) District. This was developed in consultation with school officials.
“With their official shift to Red Deer Polytechnic, we are looking to the future to better support the post-secondary institution as they continue to grow and evolve,” said Orlando Toews, Senior Planner, City of Red Deer. “The proposed district prepares Red Deer Polytechnic for a growing and viable future as a key educational institute within the region.”
Currently zoned as Public Service District, which is typical zoning for school sites, the land on which RDP sits does not account for activities on campus such as residences and commercial ventures.
