Recreational summer programs to resume next month in Red Deer County

Jun 29, 2021 | 1:18 PM

As Alberta moves into Stage 3 of the COVID-19 Open for Summer Plan, Red Deer County Community Services has announced the offering of recreation and culture programming to residents.

“We are excited to be offering a wide range of summer programs for our residents”, says Community Services Manager Jo-Ann Symington, in a press release. “The Community Services team has worked hard to plan a variety of safe and fun activities for residents to learn new skills, explore their community and get active outdoors.”

New options this year include Red Deer County Adventure Packs.

Participants can explore their own backyard in Red Deer County. The pack contains a map and itinerary with destinations throughout the County with restaurants, museums, activities and sights. Coupons to use at each stop are also included.

The Summer Paddling Program allows for individual or family Stand-Up Paddleboarding or Canoeing Lessons. These courses teach basic skills and safety knowledge. All equipment is provided but registration is required.

Free-of-charge events across the County include the “In the Neighbourhood Concert Series” and BCG Pop-up Programs. In partnership with BGC Red Deer and District, these pop-up events offer youth aged 7-12 an opportunity to try archery, baseball, canoeing and more. Pop-ups will take place at various locations across the County all summer long.
