Rocky RCMP Report: June 12-17

8:45 A.M. – Door handle and lock damaged to a pickup truck while parked at a RMH residence overnight.

10:13 A.M. – Report of an attempted theft of a pickup truck overnight from a RMH residence. The door handle, ignition, and dash were damaged.

11:11 A.M. – Theft of a grey POLARIS 500 stolen from a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve overnight.

3:30 P.M. – Damage reported to door handles of a vehicle while parked at a RMH residence.

5:58 P.M. – Report of a possible shot fired at an individual while riding an ATV on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Unknown exactly where it came from.

10:34 P.M. – Report of a possible impaired driver in Clearwater County. Police located the suspect vehicle and invoked the Mandatory Alcohol Screening requirement. The adult male driver blew a “fail” on the Alcohol Screening Device. Provincial sanctions issued included a fine and a licence suspension along with the vehicle being towed.

June 13

7:46 A.M. – Police received several complaints of an erratic driver on Hwy #11 & SecHwy #756, Clearwater County and then at Hwy #22 & #12. The vehicle was described as a black dually pickup hauling a RV, ATV, and a generator. The RV and quad were found flipped upside down in the intersection on Hwy #22 & #11. The pickup/RV/ATV unit had been reported stolen from a RMH residence earlier in the morning. The vehicle was located & stopped later in the afternoon in the BLACKFALDS area. An adult male was arrested and charges were laid.

3:05 P.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle in RMH with a mismatched licence plate. An adult male was arrested while he was walking away from the vehicle. A search revealed that he had heroin, meth, and fentanyl in his possession as well as a prohibited tazer and knives. Cocaine and ammunition were located in the vehicle which had the VIN tampered with. He is facing numerous charges including for breaching prohibition orders. Further investigation revealed that the pickup truck had been reported stolen from Camrose back in March. He was released on a $2000 Promise To Pay document after a JIR hearing and is due back in court in July.

June 14

9:49 P.M. – Call of an assault which occurred in RMH. An adult male was arrested. Charges pending.

June 15

1:42 A.M. Police received a call from a security company advising of alarms at a RMH car dealership. Police attended and discovered a large bay window/wall, to the dealership showroom, had apparently been driven through and debris was scattered about. A DODGE Ram pickup, which had been reported stolen from Red Deer last evening, was sitting out in front after the suspect left it there and stole a new GMC pickup truck from the showroom floor. He drove the truck through the wall and windows of the dealership. A short time later the stolen truck was spotted by police, northbound on Hwy #11, travelling at a high rate of speed. A spike belt was utilized to disable the vehicle at the Swanson & Sunchild Road. The adult male suspect ran into the woods and was apprehended on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve with the assistance of the Police Dog Services. He is due to appear before a Justice in a JIR Hearing for the second time in 2 days after just recently being released with numerous conditions stemming from previous incidents.

6:20 A.M. – A RMH business was reported broken into overnight. The front gate was damaged along with the office glass door and shop window. Under investigation.

7:24 A.M. – B&E reported to a RMH church overnight. The church door was pried open and a shed was damaged.

7:35 P.M. – Call of a possible impaired driver in the north end of RMH. A short time later another call was received of the same vehicle hitting a parked car. Police attended and arrested the adult male driver after it was determined he was impaired by drugs. Provincial roadside sanctions were issued which included a $1000 fine, 90 day driving suspension, and a 30 day vehicle seizure. As well he was issued violation tickets under the Traffic Safety Act.

June 16

7:58 A.M. – B&E reported to a business in Nordegg. $60 worth of raw Grand Pine chicken sausage was stolen.

June 17

10:52 A.M. – Theft of 2 solar panels stolen from an oil lease site in Clearwater County.

5:10 P.M. – Theft of amazon boxes reported stolen from front step of a residence in the area of 55 Ave & 56 street in RMH.

6:12 P.M. – Report of an abandoned FORD F250 parked in a construction lot near a gravel company yard. Police attended and towed the truck which had been reported stolen in May from the Rimbey area.

6:38 P.M. – Report of a suspicious DODGE Ram in the parking lot of a gas station on the west side of RMH. Police attended and arrested 3 individuals after it was determined that the truck had been reported stolen 4 days prior from Valleyview. Methamphetamine was found on one of the males after he was searched. These individuals are known to police and are due to appear before a Justice in a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
