Central Alberta Pride Week announced for August 8-14

Central Alberta Pride Society (CAPS) has announced its 2021 celebrations will take place Aug. 8-14.

Central Alberta Pride Week has been put on by CAPS since 2013.

It takes place in August, as opposed to June (International Pride Month) so that there is less competition with other Pride organizations, and so as to give people a chance to celebrate Pride for a longer period of time.

“Many other cities have taken the same approach and no matter when Pride is, we get the opportunity to be visible and come together to celebrate who we are as a community,” a media release says. “We will continue to ensure that our focus is on our central Alberta community and talents, with making sure our local musicians and Drag Queens who perform at Pride in the Park and our Drag Show take centre stage of the events.”
