Drayton Valley RCMP Weekly Report: May 6-13

The following is a weekly report shared by the Drayton Valley RCMP Detachment for the week of May 6-13.

May 6

10:01 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reporting theft of propane overnight. Suspects cut the lock on the propane cage and stole 6 propane tanks at a cost of $371.94

1:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check on a male who is at that location and behaving very strangely. Member made patrols in the area, however male not located.

4:21 p.m. – Parkland County – Requesting assistance from police to assist with evacuation of residents in area of wildfire. Members from Evansburg, Drayton Valley and Parkland Detachment along with CPO’s attended, area evacuated and contained.

5:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reporting a possible intoxicated male in a blue GMC at the OCT. Member located male who was not intoxicated, has medical issues.

7:20 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member took call from individual known to police who advised they were in a crisis. Female requested member meet her at McDonalds, female never showed. Female contacted and is ok.

7:38 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reporting a possible fraud. Male had advised complainant that they could fix their two vehicles. Vehicles had been towed to residence, complainant has since learned that individual is not a mechanic. Complainant wants their vehicles back.

7:53 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reporting catalytic converter stolen off motorhome.

9:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reporting mischief to abandoned residence. Complainant observed 2 male youth and 2 female youth throwing rocks at the residence. One male is wearing a black hoodie, the other male has a blue backpack. Member patrolled the area, youth not located. Does not appear to be any new damage to property.

10:27 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant calling to report a large fire near the landfill. Member attended, no fire, just the glow from the wildfire north of the town.

May 7

8:17 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Madsen Ave – 911 hang-up from the hospital. Police contacted the hospital, no emergency, common issue when people are trying to dial out.

10:12 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Centre Court – Park owner advising squatters in a trailer. Police attended, found the people in the trailer had purchased it from the previous owner and were not squatting.

11:38 a.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk – Report of theft, police spoke with both parties, determined matter was civil in nature.

1:27 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Request from Edmonton Police Service to attempt to locate someone on warrants in our area.

3:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Report of an intoxicated male acting strangely at a business. Police attended and found the male walking down the highway. The male was arrested and held until sober.

3:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Two lease sites were damaged and copper wire was stolen.

8:39 P.M. – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – 911 call received from what was a very confused male. Member called the complainant, however did not wish to speak to police, he advised he had accidentally called 911

May 8

2:38 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Noise complaint, police attended and the resident agreed to turn his music down.

10:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 41 Ave – Suspicious person who has come to the church door and tried to open it a few times and unplugged a camera. No damage done.

10:34 a.m. – Brazeau County – Abandoned vehicle, police attended and recovered a stolen truck (out of Edmonton) and trailer (out of Evansburg).

11:35 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 74A – Report of a small fire in the bushes. Police attended and found a homeless person who had started a small fire to keep warm but had put it out when the complainant confronted them.

12:02 p.m. – Drayton Valley – A female called wanting to turn herself in as she had cut off her ankle bracelet and breached her court imposed house arrest a couple days prior in Breton’s area. The female was arrested and transported to the detachment and held for a bail hearing where she was released by a Justice of the Peace.

5:37 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Police were called to assist EMS with a medical related call.

5:39 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Report of a possible impaired driver. Vehicle was not located.

9:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Call of a structure fire. Police and the Fire Department attended, no fire was located, but a smell of smoke was present. The Fire Department remained to check the building, police left the scene.

10:21 p.m. – Tomahawk area – File generated to document actions taken by police on May 7th at a residence in the wildfire area

May 9

3:10 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR80 – Complainant reported a custody dispute between complainant and biological parent who had attended residence. Complainant has temporary custody. Member attended, suspect had left, and was reportedly driving impaired. Patrols were made but the suspect wasn’t located.

9:41 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 80/Twp 492 – Complainant reported a suspicious male. Member attended and located the male who was given a ride to town. No offence

12:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 42 Ave – Complainant reported belongings missing from her residence, sometime over the past week. Possible suspect identified, under investigation

2:32 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 22 Hwy/50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle. Plate queried, stolen out of Mayerthorpe. Member attempted a traffic stop, vehicle fled. No pursuit due to public safety. Under investigation to identify driver from surveillance video

4:42 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reporting their dog missing. Complainant called back later to advise the dog had returned home.

6:23 p.m. – Parkland County – Tomahawk area – Complainant inquiring if an Emergency Protection Order obtained in Edmonton had been served. Order located and served on respondent

May 10

2:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious male with a red hoody. Male was observed going up to a residence and attempt the door. Complainant told the male to leave and male did. Members patrolled the area and located a male that matched the description. Male advised to go home.

3:37 p.m. – Brazeau County – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a silver Honda. Driver is suspended from driving. Driver issued a roadside suspension for being impaired and a violation ticket.

7:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant located a stolen vehicle in the alley. No occupants. Vehicle had been stolen earlier in the morning.

7:58 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting a break and enter to business overnight. Entry gained by breaking a side window. Several guitars stolen.

9:19 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an abandoned red Dodge with a boat trailer attached. Doors are wide open, no one around. Member attended location, both vehicle and trailer were gone.

10:30 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Ivan To Park – Request to assist fire department with a grass fire at the park. Members attended, fire put out.

11:52 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting that they were driving on Hwy 22 and a gravel truck in front of them was spitting rocks into their windshield. Members patrolled location, however vehicle not located.

12:29 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a break and enter to a landscaping business. Tools left behind. Member attended, detached garage inside compound broken into. Entry through side door. Several tools stolen from tool chest.

4:04 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Two driving complaints received regarding a likely stolen F350. Vehicle is cutting in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. Members located the truck in town, however vehicle refused to stop for members and took off.

4:34 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver. Members patrolled the area, vehicle described as a 2008 Ford Expedition. Members contacted the Registered Owner who was not impaired.

4:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Blue older ford Diesel truck is driving erratically, speeding. Vehicle is related to the vehicle that took off on members earlier. Patrols made, vehicle not located.

7:01 p.m. – Lodgepole – Complainant calling to report their friend had tipped their canoe and were floating in the middle of the lake. While members were en route, they received information that all parties had made it safe to shore.

May 11

1:41 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting a known individual is breaching their house arrest. Members attended, however no one would answer the door.

2:36 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting several teenagers are making alot of noise at the skate park. Member patrolled the area, youth had left the area.

6:22 a.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a suspicious green Chevrolet truck is backed into an approach. Members attended and located vehicle which was locked and parked on a lease road. No indication vehicle is stolen.

8:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant called to request a wellbeing check. Custody order in place and complainant has not heard from children in over a week. Would like members to check on their welfare to determine they are safe. Member attended residence, children were fine.

12:03 p.m. – Brazeau County – hwy 624 – Complainant reporting an abandoned vehicle on their property. Vehicle has been there for several weeks. Vehicle towed.

12:43 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant calling to report a suspicious vehicle, White Chrysler 300, has been parked on the side of the highway all day. Member attended, no licence plate on vehicle. Vehicle towed.

3:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant calling to reporting their landlord cut off their gas and was evicting them. Member attended, matter is civil. Tenant has not paid rent.

4:50 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant calling to report a red Chevrolet dually driving north on Hwy 22 swerving and driving erratically. Patrols made vehicles not located.

9:29 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – complainant called to report they hit a deer on the highway. Member attended, deer moved off the road.

10:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 20 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious male is loitering in the parking lot and harassing customers. Male is wearing a blue hoodie and jeans as well as a balaclava. Member attended and located known male who was waiting for a ride.

May 12

8:12 a.m. – Brazeau County – complainant calling to report they are fearful for their life. Motorcycle gangs involved. Complainant was very paranoid. Call back number provided was the detachment complaint line, unable to call complainant back. History of dug induced paranoia

8:27 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting card readers at card lock were damaged.

10:43 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a suspicious silver GMC Sierra has been parked in the parking lot for the past hour. Member attended, vehicle was gone upon arrival.

1:11 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 42 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of Apple Watch. Possible suspect.

2:30 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a hit and run. Damage to their 2006 grey Chevrolet Avalanched while parked in the parking lot at Petro Canada North.

4:09 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop with a F350 Grey truck. Driver had warrants out of Edmonton. Warrants executed and driver released as per Edmonton PS wishes. Plate was not registered and no insurance. Vehicle towed.

5:02 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a landlord tenant dispute. Member attended residence and spoke with both parties.

May 13

12:18 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant calling in to report the overheard a male yelling. Member attended, it was an individual playing video games.

1:42 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting they thought they heard gun shots at the Wiley West Campground. Member attended Wiley West, foot patrols made, all quiet.

2:28 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram Truck. Vehicle fled from police. Plate confirmed with Edmonton PS that vehicle had recently been stolen.
