Woman dies in crash near Three Hills

Police say a collision Wednesday morning near Three Hills claimed the life of a 78-year-old woman.

It was just before 10 a.m. when Three Hills RCMP received a 911 call of the two-vehicle crash on Highway 27 near Range Road 251 in Kneehill County.

Preliminary investigation indicates a truck travelling eastbound on Highway 27 was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Range Road 251.

RCMP say the lone driver of the truck was taken to hospital by ambulance with injuries and the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries.

The woman, from Three Hills, was a passenger in the northbound vehicle and was declared deceased on scene. Her name is not being released.

The area of the collision remained restricted to traffic for a period of time until the highway was fully re-opened.
