Rocky RCMP Report April 23-29

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of April 23-29

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

April 23

00:37 A.M. – Police stopped an erratic driver without a rear window on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The adult female driver was determined to be impaired by alcohol and also disqualified from driving. Provincial sanctions were issued along with a violation ticket.

2:32 A.M. – A vehicle owner in Caroline went outside to check on his pickup truck and discovered an individual inside, trying to punch out the ignition. The suspect fled with 2 other persons in a white Chevrolet truck.

9:13 A.M. – Black 2004 FORD SuperDuty pickup truck stolen from a residence in RMH. A suspicious white Ford Escape was seen in the area. The truck was recovered in Rimbey. Under investigation.

3:14 P.M. – Report of 2 males assaulting an individual and stealing his cell phone at a residence in RMH. Under investigation and charges are pending.

4:49 P.M. – Vehicle broken into overnight at a residence in RMH. The culprit(s) broke the door handle and punched out the ignition.

7:04 P.M. – Report of an Impaired Driver on SecHwy #752, Clearwater County. The driver was observed on the side of the highway, getting out of the vehicle and staggering around before getting back in and driving away. The driver was located at his residence and subsequently arrested. Provincial driving sanctions were issued and the vehicle was seized for 30 days.

7:47 P.M. – Report of a vehicle intentionally rammed by another vehicle on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. The adult female suspect driver was located by police and arrested. Charges are pending.

8:12 P.M. – A black & orange 24-speed Peugeot bicycle reported stolen overnight from the side of a home located on the north end of RMH.

April 24

10:53 A.M. – Police stopped an uninsured and unregistered vehicle on the Nordegg River Road. The adult female driver was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant and then released for a future court date. Further violation tickets were issued and the vehicle was towed.

4:06 P.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle on SecHwy #591 after it was observed with an unregistered licence plate. The vehicle was not insured and was in the process of being repossessed by the financial institution. It was towed and the adult male driver was given a number of violation tickets.

April 25

10:09 A.M. – Report of a stolen licence plate from a vehicle while parked at a RMH home.

April 26

1:07 A.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on Hwy #11 as the registered owner only had a “Learners” licence. The officer observed that the VIN plate on the dash appeared to have been tampered with. Methamphetamine was located in the vehicle. The adult male driver, who gave a false name initially, was arrested and released for a later court date.

10:46 A.M. – Plywood and 2×4’s stolen from a RMH Hardware store. hole was cut in the fence to gain access to the compound.

April 27

2:09 P.M. – Theft of power tools and meat from a garage at a RMH residence.

7:44 P.M. – Report of a possible “Impaired Driver” on Hwy #11 toward RMH. The vehicle was located by police and the driver was arrested. Provincial Sanctions have been issued.

10:02 P.M. – Robbery reported at the Sunchild Store. The owner was assaulted with bear mace and money was stolen from the till. Under investigation.

10:45 P.M. – 911 call of a disturbance at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and determined a suspect broke a window of a vehicle and fled the scene. Warrant requested for the arrest of the suspect.

April 28

10:05 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation

April 29

8:32 P.M. – Complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Clearwater County. Police attended and arrested one intoxicated individual who was later released after sobering up.
