Young Cochrane sisters found safe in B.C.

The Alberta RCMP Serious Crimes Branch says two young Cochrane girls who had been missing for over a month have been located safe in B.C.

Police say the five-year-old and two-year-old girls were located in the Columbia Valley on Wednesday evening and are now being cared for by Children Services.

No further details are being provided at this time. Police say additional information is anticipated to be provided later.

The sisters were last seen at around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 12 at their rural home near Cochrane when they were supposed to be picked up by their father, who had just been granted full custody of the two girls.

It was believed they had been taken by their grandmother and aunt.

The girls’ aunt, Alison O’Driscoll, 38, and grandmother, Therese O’Driscoll, 68, have been charged with:

• Forcible confinement

• Abduction of a person under the age of 14

• Abduction in contravention of a parenting order

• Abduction.

RCMP say processes are underway to have both accused returned to Alberta.
