Apr 8, 2021 | 7:28 PM

The value of building permits issued in Red Deer last month increased over the same month last year but year-to-date numbers are still well below those of 2020.

According to the latest stats issued by the City of Red Deer on Thursday, 97 permits were issued in March with a value of $13.1 million. That’s up from 67 permits issued in March, 2020 with a value of $5.6 million.

Year-to-date numbers, however, show 209 building permits issued in the first quarter of this year with a value of $19.5 million. That compares with a largely pre-pandemic of 175 permits issued with a value of $70.8 million during the same time last year.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit for construction of new convenience store and gas bar at 120-3115 50 Avenue, valued at $2.8 million
