First-degree murder charge laid in Leduc high school stabbing

A student has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal stabbing Monday morning at a high school in Leduc.

Dylan Thomas Pountney, 19, remains in custody and is due in an Edmonton courtroom today.

Pountney was arrested during the noon hour on Monday, about two hours after what was described by police as a “violent assault” at Christ the King school in Leduc.

A 17-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton but died from her injuries.
