Freestyle ski club competing for $50,000

The Central Alberta Freestyle Club (CAFSC) is competing with other clubs across the country for $50,000 in the Mackenzie Top Peak Challenge.

Currently in 12^th place, the club is rallying to move into the top 10 to move on to the next phase of the competition.

“A $50,000 investment into our growing freestyle club in Central Alberta would go a long way,” said Club President Lyndsey Duffy. “Over the last two years, especially following the 2019 Canada Winter Games, our club has grown along with the facilities at Canyon Ski Resort. We are especially seeing growing numbers in our under 10 age group and increased skill level in the 10 plus age group. This investment would help with skill development for these kids.”

Mackenzie Top Peak is a national competition and a chance for ski communities to showcase their community and ski spirit. At the end of March, a panel of judges will choose the winner and provide them with $50,000 to invest in the cause of their choice.

“We really need Central Albertans to help us get into the top 10 by March 13,” said Duffy. “The top 10 will be announced on March 14 and will have another week to rally and gain points. The winner will be selected on March 30.”

Every week Mackenzie Investments releases a Peak Challenge on Instagram and Twitter. Follow the challenge and share your video on your Instagram and Twitter feeds with the hashtag #toppeakcanyon to earn five points. Posting to Instagram Stories and Twitter Fleets do not count. Your account must be public for the hashtag to be seen by Mackenzie Investments.
Add the hashtag #toppeakcanyon to any public post on Instagram or Twitter for 5 points. Total of three hashtags per day per person are counted.
Cast your vote for Canyon Ski Area at www.mackenzietoppeak.ca for one point.

The judging will be based on the quality of the Peak Profile posted on the website at 80 per cent and the number of points earned at 20 per cent. Teams not in the top 10 on March 14 will be eliminated.
