Olds RCMP seek info regarding burnt-out truck

Feb 17, 2021 | 8:23 PM

Olds RCMP are seeking information regarding an abandoned, burnt-out truck found north of town last weekend.

Police say the black four-door Chevrolet truck was located at the intersection of Township 340 and Highway 2A Saturday morning (Feb. 13). Mounties say the cab and engine bay of the truck were completely burnt-out and that the fire was still smoldering, leading them to believe the fire was recent.

Meantime, Olds RCMP are investigating an incident on the QEII Highway involving three suspicious vehicles.

It was around 4:45 a.m. Saturday when police say the vehicles were driving erratically in the southbound lanes of the highway, just south of Bowden.

According to RCMP, two of the three vehicles were described as a black Acura four-door car and a black four-door Chevrolet half-tonne truck, while the third vehicle was believed to be a dark-coloured SUV.

The car then drove into the west ditch where it was abandoned. Olds RCMP are seeking anyone who sw what happened or may have dash camera footage of the vehicles involved.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact Olds RCMP at 403-556-3323, or your local police service. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), visit www.p3tips.com or use the “P3 Tips” mobile app.
