Town of Ponoka making improvements to aquaplex during pandemic
Extensive maintenance and improvements are currently being done at the Ponoka Aquaplex.
The Town’s Annual Maintenance and Facility Improvement Program is usually undertaken in September. However, with the aquaplex closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Town is taking advantage of the time to get work done without interruption to users.
“Once the work is completed, we expect that the improvements being made will dramatically increase people’s enjoyment of the Aquaplex,” said Andrew Jones, Recreation Coordinator for the Town of Ponoka. “The new deck improvements alone should make it look and feel like a completely different facility.”
Work includes a completely resurfaced and refinished pool deck, resurfacing and refurbish of the wading pool, a new rooftop HVAC unit, and new edging around the main pool and wading pool to increase user safety.
