AFPA taps Nathan Fillion for virtual forest tour

Alberta-born actor Nathan Fillion is lending his voice to the Alberta Forest Products Association’s (AFPA) Virtual Forest Tour.

The AFPA says the forestry sector plays an important role as a renewable, sustainable industry in Alberta, with a big economic impact with over 70 communities that were developed around forestry and are driven by forestry jobs.

Sustainability and stewardship are at the heart of the industry, the association says.

“One of the best ways to inform people about the industry is to go into the forest with them and explain all the complex factors at play. During the pandemic, we thought we’d create a fun, virtual forest tour that shows the value our forests provide over their whole lifespan,” says AFPA President and CEO Jason Krips.

“We invite Albertans to visit the site, poke around and learn how we care for these complex ecosystems that are so important to all of us. It’s the next best thing to a walk in the woods with Nathan Fillion.”

Fillion is best known for his roles in TV series including Firefly, Castles and his leading current role in ABC’s The Rookie.

AFPA is hoping his star power can help with teaching people about one of the province’s most precious natural resources.
