For Red Deer, the death toll is up one to nine, while 10 new cases were added, and active cases rose by nine to 264. Recoveries sit at 1,334.

A total of three new deaths were added to the Cental Zone today (55 total), which also saw a rise in active cases of 117 to 1,577.

In the zone, 88 people are in hospital, down two, and 17 are in ICU, the same as Friday.

Elsewhere across the zone, Red Deer County has 56 active cases, up two, and Sylvan Lake has 44 active, an increase of four.

Lacombe County is up one to 37 active, while the city of Lacombe has 44, up three.

Ponoka County, which includes Maskwacis where numbers are soaring, there are 536 active cases, up 69.

Mountain View County has 28 active cases, the same as Friday, Olds has 39, also the same, and Kneehill County is steady at 12. County of Stettler went from six to seven active cases.

The province also updated vaccination numbers on Saturday saying that 42,333 people have now received a dose, up 4,647 from Friday.

Clarification: The 31 deaths were counted and reported by Alberta Health to the public in a single day. However, they occurred over a wider range of days dating back to early December.
