Dr. Hinshaw shares COVID-19 update for Dec. 17

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health is set to provide her latest update on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak during a news conference scheduled for 3:30 p.m. You can watch the news conference below once it begins.

Health Minister Tyler Shandro announced earlier on Tuesday that the next phase of rapid testing for COVID-19 in Alberta is to begin tomorrow.

Shandro said mobile units will be sent to homeless shelters and long-term care facilities, where positive cases will be able to be identified in a matter of hours.

He says bringing rapid testing directly to the most vulnerable is an important addition to help manage and prevent the spread of the virus.
