Big lotto prize wins in Alix, Delburne

Delburne’s Gordon (Del) Thompson is basking in a $250,000 prize after his Daily Grand ticket for the November 12 draw matched all five winning Main Draw numbers – 5, 13, 14, 29, and 43.

Thompson picked up his winning ticket at the Stop N Go at 4719 46th Street in nearby Stettler on the morning of the draw and found out about his win a few days later when he stopped in at the same store and used their ticket checker.

“I had no idea that I’d won before I took it to the store,” laughed Thompson. “[When I scanned the ticket] I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!”

Thompson passed his ticket over to the cashier who confirmed it – he was about to be a quarter of a million dollars richer.

Now that he’s claimed his prize, Thompson says he’s going to use the money to pay down some debt and do some home renovations.

Alix’s Kevin and Michelle Pitchell, meanwhile, are celebrating a lottery win of their own.

The couple brought home a $100,000 windfall after the EXTRA on their LOTTO MAX ticket matched the last six digits of the winning number – 326077 – for the December 1 draw.

The couple picked up their ticket a couple of days before the draw as part of a $24 Super Pack at the Alix Gas Plus.

Kevin discovered their win the morning after the draw while checking winning numbers on the WCLC website.

Surprised, they scanned their ticket using the Lotto Spot! app a number of times to verify their win before calling in to make an appointment to claim their prize.

Now with their windfall in hand, the Pitchells say they plan to invest most of the money as “a nice start for a retirement fund” while setting some aside for their children.
