Dr. Hinshaw shares COVID-19 update for Dec. 11

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health is set to provide her latest update on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak during a news conference scheduled for 3:30 p.m. You can watch the news conference below once it begins.

Alberta reported 1,566 new COVID-19 cases yesterday and 13 new deaths.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, chief medical officer of health, says the province has completed about 16,000 new tests — for a positivity rate of about nine per cent.

The province has 20,163 active cases with 682 patients in hospital, 124 of them receiving intensive care.

There has been a total of 666 COVID-19 deaths to date in Alberta.

Hinshaw says the province’s health system is in trouble and people need to work together to save it.
