Prizes up for grabs in downtown arts scavenger hunt

Nov 27, 2020 | 9:58 AM

Red Deer Arts Council is pleased to present Red Deer Lights the Night Glass Front Gallery, which runs through January 8, 2021 in downtown Red Deer.

Art can be found on 49th and Ross Streets, and Little Gaetz Avenue. A Scavenger Hunt with questions about the art on display is offered in conjunction with City of Red Deer Culture Services. Complete map with art locations and artist details and the hunt questionnaire (available as a printable PDF or as a JotForm) can be found and downloaded from our website.

In addition, in full compliance with newly updated AHS gathering restrictions we have an art mini-market in the Scott Block building’s lobby, in conjunction with the Downtown Red Deer Business Association’s Winter Art Market inside the theatre space. Artists with works available for purchase are:

· Thursday, Nov. 26, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Brian Downes and Philip Gauthier

· Friday, Nov. 27, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Brian Downes and Margaret Hall

· Saturday, Nov. 28, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Pat Matheson and Wendy Meeres

This storefront art gallery adds beautiful winter-themed art to the windows of local businesses and available venues. All artworks are lit up for easier viewing during darker afternoons and evenings when the many lights of City Hall Park make our downtown so beautiful during the colder months. Most works are available for purchase.

The Red Deer Arts Council is pleased to be able to share these beautiful works in celebration of the holiday season and support local artists through a grant provided by the City of Red Deer Culture Services and the Downtown Red Deer Business Association.
