Red Deer down to 8 active COVID-19 cases

There are 143 new cases of COVID-19 across Alberta in Wednesday’s updated statistics.

The total number of cases across the province stands at 17,032. There are 1,520 active cases, down 45 from Tuesday, and 15,252 recovered cases, up 186.

The province conducted 12,317 tests in the past 24 hours.

There are currently 59 Albertans in hospital, including 13 in ICU. There have been 260 deaths, two more since Tuesday. The number of hospitalizations and cases in ICU are up eight and four, respectively.

Red Deer has now has eight active cases of the novel coronavirus, down one from Tuesday, and 99 recoveries.

The Central zone now sits with 20 cases, a decrease of four, 632 recoveries and no hospitalizations from COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Red Deer County and Lacombe County each have one active case, Ponoka County has five, Mountain View County has six, and Drayton Valley has one.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, is scheduled to give her next COVID-19 media update on Thursday.
