Active COVID cases up in Alberta, steady in Central Zone

Alberta is reporting 127 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

This brings the total number of coronavirus cases identified in the province so far to 13,210 including 1,176 that are currently active – up 42 active cases from Tuesday.

The total number of deaths from the virus remains at 235 since the start of the pandemic.

Numbers show there are 48 people in hospital with COVID-19 in the province, up two from Tuesday, with seven of those in ICU.

11,799 Albertans have recovered, with 729,503 people tested so far and 912,302 tests conducted.

There remains 27 active cases in the Central Zone, with two still in hospital and 538 now recovered. There have been seven coronavirus-related deaths in Central Zone.

There are eight active cases of COVID-19 in the City of Red Deer – down one from Tuesday, while 69 have recovered.

Elsewhere throughout Central Alberta:

• Red Deer County: two active cases – up one from Tuesday.
• Lacombe County: Four active cases.
• Ponoka County: Zero active cases.
• Mountain View County: One active case.
• Clearwater County: Zero active cases.
• Kneehill County: Zero active cases.
• Town and County of Stettler: Zero active cases – down one from Tuesday.
• Town of Sylvan Lake: Zero active cases.
• City of Lacombe: Zero active cases.
• Town of Innisfail: Two active cases – up one from Tuesday.
• Town of Rocky Mountain House: Zero active cases.
• Town of Rimbey: Zero active cases.
• Town of Ponoka: Zero active cases.
• Town of Olds: Zero active cases.
• Town of Sundre: Zero active cases.
• Town of Didsbury: One active case.

Province-wide, there are 625 active cases in the Edmonton Zone – up 17 from Tuesday.

362 active cases in the Calgary Zone – up 22 from Tuesday.

137 active cases in the North Zone – up three from Tuesday.

Still 20 active cases in the South Zone, and five other active cases of COVID-19 in unconfirmed locations.
