Rocky RCMP Report June 18-22

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of June 18-22.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report

June 18

4:23 P.M. – Call from the International Emergency Response Center advising of hikers who wandered off the trail in the Pinto Lake area of Clearwater County. RMH SAR was contacted and arranged the safe extraction of the hikers who agreed to pay for a helicopter come and get them.

6:55 P.M. – An assault reported on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Under investigation

8:18 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve and arrested a male who was in possession of Methamphetamine. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant from Calgary Police Service. He was held for a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

9:28 P.M. – Report of a highly intoxicated individual walking on the road, trying to jump in front of vehicles, on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Police located the person at his residence after receiving an update advising that he was “freaking out”. He was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.

10:59 P.M. – Theft of a stroller from a backyard in a residential area of RMH.

June19

5:47 P.M. – Police stopped a vehicle on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve, driven by a male who is a known suspended driver. Methamphetamine was located and the vehicle was seized for 30 days. Charges are pending.

7:56 P.M. – An assault reported on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Under investigation.

9:48 P.M. – Police stopped a SUV in RMH, which had been travelling in excess of 170 km/h. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Edmonton. The adult male driver and female passenger, both from the Edmonton area, were arrested and charged with numerous offences including Possession of Stolen Property, Dangerous Driving, Breaching previous release conditions, Flight from Police, and possession of a prohibited weapon, etc. They are due in court at a later date.

June 20

1:24 A.M. – Police arrested a female driver who had been travelling at a high rate of speed, failed to stop for police, and then rolled the vehicle southwest of RMH. Both the driver and passenger received medical attention. Drugs were seized and an “Impaired Driving” investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

1:39 A.M. – 911 call of 2 males & a female carrying a stop sign in RMH

10:01 A.M. – Theft from a vehicle while parked at the RMH Rodeo grounds.

June 21

1:59 P.M. – Theft from a shed at a RMH church. 2 Jerry cans were stolen

3:47 P.M. – An assault was reported on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. Under investigation.

4:49 P.M. – Report of 2 shoplifters who stole sunglasses at a local RMH convenience store.

7:29 P.M. – Call of 2 suspicious males who set off a car alarm in RMH. Police located one male matching the description and arrested him as he had outstanding warrants.

June 22

5:12 A.M. – Red 1997 DODGE 1500 Ram stolen from a residence in Leslieville

3:03 P.M. – Compound at a RMH business broken into over the last few days and water bottles were stolen.

9:18 P.M. – Window broken on an RV trailer while parked at a RMH business.
