Alberta education minister to update school re-entry plan

Alberta’s Education Minister is set to provide an update as to when in-school classes may be able to resume.

Adriana LaGrange is also to discuss at-home learning and supports for students and parents during COVID-19 at a media conference scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. rdnewsNOW will carry the news conference here once it begins.

Last week, Premier Jason Kenney announced that in-school classes in Alberta would remain closed to students for the remainder of the current school year.

“We will not be reopening the schools as a general rule for the balance of this academic year,” Kenney said Thursday.

Kenney did note some schools may be able to open “on a trial basis,” including the possibility of summer classes and specialized programs.
