He was the top local player selected at the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft, and now he’s officially a member of the team he grew up cheering for.

Sylvan Lake native Talon Brigley has signed with the Red Deer Rebels.

The Rebels selected the talented forward in the second round, 24th overall, during the draft on April 22.

Brigley played last season with the Red Deer Rebels in the Alberta Major Bantam (AAA) Hockey League. In 23 games, he had 13 goals, 13 assists for 26 points.

Talon’s father, Travis, played professional hockey for 13 seasons, including time with the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche. Prior to his pro career, Travis played in the WHL with the Lethbridge Hurricanes from 1994-97.

“Talon is a well-rounded forward who has a high compete level, thinks the game well making fast twitch plays and has a good shot,” says Shaun Sutter, Red Deer Rebels Assistant General Manager. “He has the character, and layers to his game and skill set to be relied on in all situations while also being a player who is capable of driving the play.”
