Increased Testing

Rocky hospital begins drive-thru testing for COVID-19 by appointment only

Apr 28, 2020 | 3:06 PM

As of Monday, the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre has implemented drive-thru testing for COVID-19 from Monday to Friday.

This comes after Alberta Health Services noticed many Rocky residents were driving to Red Deer to get tested.

The tests will be done through appointments only by dialing 811 or with the AHS self-assessment test found here.

Testing eligibility has expanded to include any Albertans that are symptomatic and experiencing a cough, fever, shortness of breath, runny nose or sore throat.

As of April 15, AHS have started allowing people to receive their negative test results through an autodialer system to automatically notify negatively tested people to be informed with an automated phone call. This is to allow healthcare teams to spend more time consulting those with a positive test result and help Albertans receive information sooner.

Tests are not completed in the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre and therefore may take one to two days, if you have not received a call in a few days regarding your test results, it is recommended to call 811 back immediately.
