The Lacombe Police Service says it’s been a busy few weeks when it comes to stolen vehicles.

On April 10, an officer observed a black Ford F350 broken down in the intersection of 58 Street and 50 Avenue in Lacombe where the lone male occupant of the truck was observed attempting to refill the gas tank. Further investigation found the truck had been stolen from a residence in Lacombe County on April 3.

When police attempted to arrest the male, he failed to comply with the officer’s demands and was arrested after a short foot pursuit.

Lester Martin, 34, of Bentley is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of break in instruments, and resist/obstruct peace officer and is due to appear in Red Deer provincial court on July 14.

On April 13, Lacombe police responded to the report of a stolen truck from a business in the 3700 block of 53 Avenue. The stolen truck is described as a white 2018 Ram pickup truck, Alberta license plate CBN1372. Footage of the event was obtained by police.

The Lacombe Police Service is reminding the public to ensure keys are not left in vehicles when not in use.

“Since 1 March, the LPS has received nine complaints of vehicles stolen in the area,” reads a media release.
