Alberta Government to defer timber dues for six months
A six-month deferral of all timber dues for forest industry companies is the latest measure announced by the Government of Alberta in response to COVID-19.
The deferral of dues will support companies that have self-isolating staff or constraints that require working from home, according to a release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
“Alberta’s forest sector is our third largest resource industry, behind energy and agriculture,” says Devin Dreeshen. “Ensuring the economic viability for our responsible forest companies will help Alberta families and contribute to our economic recovery.”
Because of the pandemic, the release continues, the forest industry has experienced low markets for lumber, oriented strand board, and pulp.
