Alberta’s flu-related deaths up from last year
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has released its latest weekly data on influenza, and it shows the number of flu-related deaths in the province has surpassed last year’s total.
According to the update released on Thursday, 36 Albertans have died from influenza this season, surpassing last year’s total of 30.
Edmonton Zone recorded the highest amount of flu-related deaths with 15, followed by Calgary Zone at nine, South Zone with six, Central Zone with four, and North Zone with two.
The stats show 1,426,778 doses of the vaccine administered across the province this season, up from 1,305,470 last year.
