Rocky RCMP Report: Feb 17-27

The following is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved, throughout the community between the dates of February 17-27, 2020.

Not all crimes that were reported are listed in this report.

February 17

00:20 A.M. – Call of a fight in progress at a local RMH restaurant in which one male was kicked in the face. Police attended along with EMS, who transported the victim to the hospital and from there to an Edmonton hospital. The adult male suspect was located and arrested at a nearby motel. He was released to appear in RMH Provincial Court at a later date.

February 18

6:53 A.M. – Red DODGE 1500 pickup truck reported stolen from Caroline, along with a trailer and 2 snowmobiles. The truck was recovered a short time later on a County road but the other items are still missing, including a yellow/black 2005 SKIDOO Summit, a black/pink POLARIS 600 XCR, a Rainbow trailer, 2 power saws, and gear.

11:12 A.M. – Stolen Jeep recovered in RMH after it was reported abandoned. It had been stolen a week prior from a residence in Clearwater County.

3:34 P.M. – Vehicle reported broken into while parked at a residence in RMH. A company Laptop computer, a Scott Air Pack, and a backpack were stolen.

7:06 P.M. – Police arrested 3 adult individuals in a suspected stolen vehicle at a gas station on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. The suspects had initially been spotted scouting out properties in the Rimbey area and had fled from the police in the suspicious vehicle which had the licence plate bent upward. Fentanyl, methamphetamine, and break-in tools were located. Numerous charges have been laid and they are due back in RMH Provincial Court during the first week in March.

February 19

8:04 A.M. – B&E to residence on Woodlands Drive, Clearwater County. Electronics, TV, snowshoes, snowboard, hockey bag, and security system were stolen.

5:22 P.M. – Tires slashed on a vehicle while parked at residence in RMH.

February 20

9:01 A.M. – Theft of a blue DODGE Ram pickup truck stolen from a RMH bank shortly after the employee arrived for work.

12:15 P.M. – Theft of prescription sunglasses stolen from a vehicle while parked at a RMH church. Male with hoodie was spotted in vehicle and then fleeing in a navy blue DODGE Caravan which had been stolen from Ponoka the previous week. At 1:25 P.M. the same vehicle was spotted after a suspect stole a package off the front porch of a residence in town. Under investigation.

5:14 P.M. – Report of a brown 2001 DODGE Ram 1500 stolen while parked at the owner’s workplace in RMH. Vehicle found abandoned later on Range Road 7-1 & Twp Rd 40-0, Clearwater County.

7:11 P.M. – Call of a male with a shotgun making threats to another person at a residence in RMH. Multiple police units attended and located the intoxicated male who was arrested for Uttering Threats. Charges are pending.

February 21

3:25 A.M. – 911 call from truck drivers who reported a B&E in progress at a RMH Pizza Restaurant. The suspects were observed pulling the ATM out through the front doors with a strap and then loading it in the back of a white FORD pickup before fleeing southbound on Highway #11. The matter is under investigation.

4:22 A.M. – Report of a smashed window of a vehicle while parked in lot near the downtown area of RMH. Culprit(s) stole a laptop computer.

8:23 A.M. – Travel trailer broken into at residence in RMH.

10:22 A.M. – Call of a suspicious male driving a SUV back and forth on Range Road 6-2 in Clearwater County. A short time later the male was seen going up a no exit road and returning with a tractor. Police attended and located the running tractor and then the adult male who was arrested for “Obstruction” and “Mischief.” Charges are pending.

8:03 P.M. – Police attended a residence in RMH and arrested an individual who had outstanding warrants. He was found hiding in a hutch. Further charges laid for “Failing to Comply” with a previous release document.

February 22

9:12 A.M. – B&E to residence on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. The house was heavily damaged.

12:21 P.M. – Report of items stolen from a vehicle overnight while parked at a residence in RMH. 2 youth on bikes, who were carrying a large bag, were chased away by the owner. The stolen property was found outside the residence.

5:00 P.M. – Tools and other items stolen from out buildings at a farm on Range Road 7-2, Clearwater County.

February 23

1:31 P.M. – Burnt out enclosed trailer with a Razor ATV inside found on a lease site in Clearwater County.

1:59 P.M. – B&E reported to a church in RMH. Entry was gained through a door which was pried open. Some cash and other items were stolen. Under investigation.

2:24 P.M. – Report of a truck stolen from Evergreen Hall. The owner located his vehicle a mile away as it had GPS, however, a laptop and documents were stolen.

9:22 P.M. – Call of an abandoned, burnt out truck on highway #22. The grey FORD F250 had been stolen the previous day from Red Deer.

February 24

7:43 A.M. – 1998 blue GMC GMT-400 pickup truck stolen from alley behind residence in RMH. The truck was running with a key and wallet inside.

8:22 A.M. – $3,000 worth of ground cable stolen from a lease site in Clearwater County.

February 25

6:27 A.M. – A 2000 black DODGE Ram was stolen from a RMH grocery store while the owner was at work.

11:41 A.M. – Damage reported to the door handle, steering column, and ignition of a vehicle in RMH overnight.

February 26

8:36 A.M. – B&E to RMH Food Bank and a laptop was stolen.

11:00 A.M. – Attempted B&E to a vacant house and garage in RMH overnight.

11:08 A.M. – Call from the RMH Court House advising that an individual had just come inside after being sprayed with “bear mace” and proceeded to the washroom for decontamination. Police attended along with EMS who transported her to the hospital. The investigation is continuing.

February 27

10:00 A.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence in RMH over the last few days while the owners were on vacation. Entry was gained via a window and a number of items were stolen including a TV, laptop, and bottles of wine. Under investigation
