RDC Kings Volleyball advance to provincial semfi-finals

The RDC Kings are off to a good start at the ACAC Men’s Volleyball Championships in Lethbridge after beating The Kings University Eagles in the quarter-finals on Thursday by three sets to one.

In the first set, RDC won 25-20, hitting at a sixty percent kill rate.

In the second, RDC dominated by a score of 25-10. Kings University had eight kills but also eight errors on 23 total attempts while RDC committed zero errors in the set.

Kings University once again committed eight errors in the third set but RDC had ten of their own, letting the Eagles get back into the game. RDC had a six point lead before the Eagles came back to win it 25-23.

In the fourth set, RDC wanted to keep it from going to a winner takes all fifth. The Eagles had thirteen kills and ten errors on 34 attempts. RDC committed only three errors of their own as they went on to win by a score of 25-20.

RDC’s Patrik Toze lead the way for the team with 17 kills of his own on 313 attempts. Mark DeWit recorded three of RDC’s six blocks.

The RDC Kings will advance to the semi-finals of the provincial tournament on Friday. They will play Briercrest College at 6 p.m. in the semi-final.

On the women’s side, the RDC Queens and Lakeland Rustlers meet on Thursday at 8:00 pm at Medicine Hat College in the quarterfinals.
