UPDATE: Mounties arrest bank robbery suspect

Red Deer RCMP have arrested the suspect they believe was involved in the armed robbery of a downtown bank on Tuesday.

Wednesday afternoon, a member of the public called police to report a suspicious person matching the suspect’s description.

RCMP arrested a 62-year-old man from Red Deer without incident and he remains in police custody until a bail hearing is set.

Red Deer RCMP thanks the public and media for their help in sharing the suspect’s photo, which led to this arrest.

Mounties responded shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday to the BMO located at 4903 Gaetz Avenue. Police say the male suspect threatened staff and obtained cash before fleeing the scene on foot.
